The British Safety Industry Federation has awarded its Product Innovation Award to VeriPRO®, the earplug fit testing system from Howard Leight®. The award was pre- sented at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards Gala Dinner held during Safety and Health Expo 2010. VeriPRO makes it easy to determine the Personal Attenuation Rating (PAR) of a worker fitted with any earplugs through a simple listening test. This allows both safety man- agers and workers to ascertain if the worker receives optimal protection from noise with their earplugs, requires additional training, or needs to try a different model.
Scott Health & Safety announced that they have donated more than $600,000 worth of safety equipment to Haitian first responders, replacing supplies destroyed during the January 12 earthquake in Haiti.
For the 11th consecutive year, MISTRAS Group Inc. has announced that they received the ExxonMobil safety award to MISTRAS Services for their work done at the Baytown Refinery in Baytown, Texus. With zero recordable injuries and thousands of hours of exemplary performance in 2009.
Dynalectric in Los Angeles recently received a 2010 Golden Gate Award from Cal/OSHA for exemplary safety practices; this honor follows other safety awards received earlier this year, and culminates with Dynalectric also recently achieving a milestone of 1,000,000 labor hours worked without a lost-time accident (between the period November 2008 - March 2010). Dynalectric, a leading electrical contractor in Southern California, is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group Inc. that specializes in mechan- ical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.
Del Monte Foods of Mendota, IL, Farm Operations group was recognized by the U.S OSHA for its world class safety operations and culture. They were awarded a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Award Program designation, which is spon- sored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The SHARP award recognizes employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. As a result of the SHARP designation, Del Monte Farm Operations group will receive a two-year work site certification, which demonstrates OSHA’s confidence in the group’s safety operations.
